Audio-guided tour and educational files
The museum enables primary and secondary schoolchildren to discover the Jacquemart-André Museum with the help of an Audioguide and an educational file. This educational aid, which consists of sheets for both teachers and pupils, is given to teachers free of charge. Fully illustrated, it enhances the children’s trip to ensure they have a fascinating and enriching visit and constitutes an enjoyable addition to history or French lessons.
For pupils aged from 7 to 11 years old
The teacher’s file for 7 to 11 year olds offers a tour of the museum based on the following three themes:
• the historical context of the Second Empire,
• the life of the aristocracy,
• the great collectors of the 19th century.
For pupils aged from 11 to 15 years old
The teacher’s file for 11 to 15 year olds offers a tour of the museum based on the following three themes:
• the historical context and architecture of the Second Empire,
• the life of Parisian society at that time,
• the great collectors of the 19th century.
For pupils aged from 15 to 18 years old
The educational file for 15 to 18 year olds enables pupils to discover the museum based on the following three themes:
• how the great aristocracy lived at the end of the 19th century,
• the activities of the great collectors of the time,
• the social success of an aristocratic family under the Second Empire.
After being welcomed by a guide, the children are transported into a fabulous story, told through the paintings. After enjoying tea at the museum, it’s the children’s turn to show their imaginations and invent an amusing story.
Programme
• Welcome : The children meet up in front of the museum shop.
• Tales and puzzles ... at the Jacquemart-André Museum
What secrets are hiding behind the paintings at the museum? A surprising tale for the children to experience first hand as they go round the rooms in the museum. Duration: 1¼ hours.
• Museum tea
A delicious tea for the children to enjoy with their friends is served in the Tea Room. A present is given to any child celebrating his/her birthday. Duration: 45 minutes.
• What’s your story?
With the help of reproduction paintings, the guide helps the children to invent an amusing story. Each child in turn constructs a story relating to the painting, using the clues given by the guide. Some of the scenes can result in very amusing stories! Duration: 30 minutes.
